Staying in the United States many of us grow up not learning much about other countries. Except if they are luxury brands, a lot of us do not think about where the cars we buy come from. You will find European automobile companies that produce exceptional cars, but these companies are not who you think they are. Rolls Royce, Mercedes, and BMW are exceptional cars, together with Lamborghini or even a Jaguar, but these are beyond the reach of a typical car buyer. However there are three additional car manufacturers that make excellent automobiles. The following article will focus on Volvo, Volkswagen and Audi.

For a country that has only nine million people, it is extraordinary that it is able to sustain two automakers. The nation is Sweden while the two corporations are Saab and Volvo. Volvo, that's owned by Ford Motor Company, has had the greatest influence on the car industry. Their biggest impact on the industry has been in the area of safety features. Some of the things that had their roots with Volvo, are reinforced roofs, front end crumple zones, and specifically created interiors. With their high standards for safety, Volvo built a reputation for building great solid cars. It was by means of their leadership that caused automakers around the world to raise their standards, also.

The Volkswagen Beetle is a car that just about everyone knows about although not so much regarding the history behind the car. The Beetle primarily came out through the 1930's in Germany as the "people's car." Immediately after World War II, it had the reputation of being among the best loved cars and one of the most mass-produced cars ever. The Beetle permitted individuals from every walk of life to have a car. Any individual, whether they happened to be college students, farmers or business people, could drive a Beetle. The Beetle continued to be fashionable in the United States until finally Volkswagen stopped importing them in the 1970's however they continued to be produced in Mexico until the the first half of the 2000's.

When Audi first introduced the all wheel drive Quattro, it was the first of its kind. Audi took the automobile community by storm and fixed the bar high for other luxury automakers. Their Quattro technology put them forward of the competitors for years. Their traction and road handling was so considerably advanced in comparison to the competition, that the cars were not allowed in specific racing competitions.

That's your basic history of three exceptional European auto producers.  However, if you look at their body of work, maybe the appropriate word is extraordinary.
